About Best Hair Design
Pamela Kaye has been professionally styling hair for 25 years. A graduate of Marinello’s on 3rd street in Los Angeles Pamela began her career training with a multicultural clientele.
Following graduation Pamela ventured out on her own landing her first gig in entertainment styling Akusua Busia’s hair for the movie The Color Purple. It is she who is responsible for Netti's beautiful hair blowing in the wind while running aside the train as she said goodbye to her sister Celie. Being young and not understanding the ins and outs of entertainment Pamela agreed to weave, style and braid for the movie without recieving credit for the job. Unfortunately you won’t find her name on the credits but of course that was just the beginning of a lustrous and successful career..
Pamela Kaye later opened her own salon Divine Touch in Inglewood California. It was there she performed some of her best work. She learned quickly doing hair required sometimes starting early in the morning and leaving later in the evening. Pamela has always been committed to fulfilling the demand for her services.
With a creative mind that would not stop, Pamela went on to produce a show entitled “Beauty Talk”. She went to her local cable network and was given the opportunity to produce and host her own show.“Beauty Talk’ had quite a buzz during its tenure. Thirteen episodes were produced and aired. The shows were entertaining and educational not to mention inspirational. Pamela viewed demonstrations of haircuts, fashion and styling, interviews with celebrity designers and even experts relationship advice was given.
As Pamela continued to create and develop projects the understanding of her call was becoming more and more apparent. From ‘Beauty talk” the show Gospel Time was birthed. Although only two shows were produced the vision still lives on.
After 6 years of owning her own salon Pamela desired even more so she decided to pack it up and move to Beverly Hills. The move was not as smooth as she had expected. Most of her Inglewood California clientele did not share her same vision and they did not follow her to Beverly Hills. Again, Pamela found herself in a familiar place, wondering how she would make the ends meet. Fortunately there was an opening at the Elgin Charles Salon. It was there she began to build an entirely new clientele in the atmosphere that gave her the adrenalin to push even further.
Many celebrity clients have sat in Pamela’s chair. From giving Jackie Joyner Kersee her first weave to regularly going to the home of Diahanne Carroll. Other celebrity clients who have sat in “The Chair” are Golden Brooks of Girlfriends, Victoria Rowell, Cat Wilson, Sean Robinson of Access Hollywood, actress K. D. Aubert, The wigs of Chaka Khan, Leslie Sykes of channel 7 eyewitness news, celebrity stylist George Fuller, Hattie Winston of the Ted Danson show, music videos, and promotional photos shoots. Pamela's hard work payed off naming the salon, salon of the month, in the Hype Hair magazine.
Although celebrity clientele is nice to have. Pamela takes careful pride in her regular clientele who consist of television producers, television writers, attorneys, doctors and professional women in other areas from finance to teachers whom she affectionately calls her Bread and Butter.
You will love experiencing the fabulous work of Pamela Kaye. She warmly welcomes you to contact her for your hair needs and appointment!
